Binge-watching television shows is today’s answer to comic-book escapism. In true Back to the Future fashion, you’ll now get to see eras past and present intertwine with these captivating vintage reimaginations by illustrator Isaac H. of CIH Studios.
The artist has envisioned current favorites like Netflix’s Disenchantment, Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, and even live-action 2000s sitcom Malcolm in the Middle as well-worn comic book covers in styles reminiscent of Archie, Beano, and more.
There’s something just so comforting about seeing old-school art overlap with today’s meme culture. Worth mentioning is the concept for Dexter’s Laboratory, which reprises a famous scene of the boy-genius whispering “Omelette du Fromage” (cheese omelet) to a girl, who swoons at his profound knowledge of the “language of love.”
Forget everything you’ve learned about not judging a book by its cover because these are simply delightful. Peer at some of Isaac H.’s concepts below, and head over to the illustrator’s Instagram for more hits of nostalgia.
