On Wednesday, Olaf Scholz was sworn in as the new German Chancellor, taking over Angela Merkel.
IKEA wasted no time at all, even finding a Merkel lookalike to front its latest reactive campaign. The print took up a full page in German newspapers and was published on the former chancellor’s last day of service.
The image pictures the figure in a comfy STRANDMON Wing chair alongside the words, Endlich zu Hause (Finally Home), inviting Merkel to put her feet up after leading the nation for 16 years.
Although the doppelgänger seems pretty relaxed, IKEA Germany made a joke on social media that she’d be keeping an eye out to see that her successor “is already busy.”
Finally At Home - an attractive offer from IKEA on the day Angela Merkel leaves office after 16 years at the helm of 🇩🇪.
