Last week, The Matrix Resurrections premiered on the silver screen at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, with Neo and Trinity returning after nearly two decades of hiatus.
To commemorate the event, Mercedes displayed an encapsulated Benz G-Class inside a giant red pill right outside the theatre. The entire structure measured about 39 feet long, 13 feet wide, and 11 feet tall.
If you’re wondering why the automaker was involved in the movie’s showing, it’s because the off-road vehicle was featured in a chase scene in the film. Although, CNET noted that the car on display was an AMG G63, while the one featured in the movie was a G550.

We’re not sure if the concept of the red pill needs any explanation, but for those who aren’t familiar with the iconic story, Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) has to make a choice between a blue and red pill.
The former leaves him in the Matrix, unaware of reality, while the latter “awakes” him to the truth of a dystopian society. In this year’s release, Neo is tasked with the same choice again.
“The G-Class and the red pill go very well together. Both stand for freedom, individuality, and self-determination,” said Dr Emmerich Schiller, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.
