McDonald’s Job Applications Are Now NFTs To Comfort Traders Post-Crypto Crash
By Ell Ko, 07 Feb 2022
The crypto sell-off of late January has flung many into a frenzy, with reports of around US$700 billion being wiped when market correction sent Bitcoin plummeting 28%, per CoinGecko quoted by CoinDesk.
Amid the frenzy is the question “what do I do?!” and the cheeky answer comes in the form of some of the most reliable things of the times to date: memes, humor as a coping mechanism, and McDonald’s.
The McDonald’s Job Application non-fungible token collection (yes, you read that right) consists of 1,111 application forms being offered to crypto holders—or ex-holders, depending on circumstance—as consolation.
“ETH going down? Can’t afford living? We got you! Apply now to your dream nine-to-five McDonalds job with our application,” jokes the creator of the collection, who appears to be unknown.
According to this anonymous “recruiter,” the first 1,000 applications are free to mint but the remaining 111 will cost 0.01 ETH. At the time of writing, 598 of the tokens have an owner, so you still have a chance.
The collection and its creator aren’t identified to be officially affiliated with McDonald’s, and the fast food giant hasn’t acknowledged the project. It did, however, offer some recognition to the pain of the crash with a tweet. And sometimes, that’s all people need.

For actual, official McDonald’s NFTs, check out these McRib NFTs that celebrate the burger’s 40th anniversary, if that is something that tickles your fancy.
