Trump’s Truth Social Limits Signups After Skyrocketing To Top Of App Store Chart

The moment of truth has arrived upon us. Former US president Donald Trump’s own social network, Truth Social, made an official launch on Apple’s App Store in the US as of February 21: President’s Day.
This was designed to be a social media network “free from political discrimination,” a likely reference to the various platforms Trump has had run-ins with over the years.
It looks like, and appears to work, suspiciously like Twitter, whose ban on Trump likely inspired the creation of this platform. Users create their individual profiles to traverse the space with, and can curate their own ‘Truth Feeds’ based on other users they choose to follow.
Reuters notes that the app, made available shortly before midnight ET, immediately rose to become the top free app by the time morning came around.
This demand showed in users being placed on a waitlist when attempting to register upon downloading the app. “Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist,” a message read.

Truth Social is just the first of ventures by the Trump Media & Technology Group, a new firm devised by Trump himself. Previously, it had expressed interest in a video service called TMTG+, which would feature “‘non-woke’ entertainment programming.”
How will all this pan out? Only time can tell.
