TikTok Videos Get Longer, Now Stretching To 10 Minutes

If you often complain about how much time you spend each day on TikTok, it could get worse.
The video platform, owned by Chinese-based ByteDance, has announced it’s bumping the maximum length of videos up to 10 minutes—more than triple the current upper limit of three minutes. This change comes just less than a year after it first changed the length of its videos from 60 seconds, up from the app’s original 15-second-long clips, as per TechCrunch.
As Variety reported, one of the major reasons for TikTok’s popularity is its ‘For Your Page’, in which the algorithm feeds users one short-form video after another, tailored to their interests.
Now, with the much longer time span, it’s unclear if creators will continue making multiple short-form videos (“Like for Part Two,” anyone?) or tweak their content to capitalize on the entire 10 minutes.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” said a company spokesperson.
“Today, we’re excited to start rolling out the ability to upload videos that are up to 10 minutes, which we hope would unleash even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.”
