Instagram Rolls Out Ability To Tag Products, Not Just People, For One-Tap Ease
By Alexa Heah, 23 Mar 2022
The next time your favorite Instagrammer features the latest product, you probably won’t have to trawl through the caption to find out exactly what it is.
Instagram has announced that it will be expanding the product tagging feature to users in the US over the coming months.
According to TechCrunch, prior to this, only registered businesses could tag products in their posts for Instagram Shopping.
Now, with the expansion, all users will be able to directly indicate which products are being used in their posts, allowing followers to discover new brands and offerings more easily.
Additionally, business owners will receive a notification when a user tags their product on a post. This may help brands better track the exposure they’re receiving on the platform, as well as control which users are allowed to tag them.
“People come to Instagram to share and discover trends and inspiration. Product tagging will make it possible for anyone to support their favorite small businesses, share how they styled their looks along with the products they used and more,” said Instagram.
Everyone can now tag products on @Instagram.
