Budweiser Will Convert Views Of Its Ad Into Solar Lights For Parts Of Africa
By Alexa Heah, 17 Jun 2022
As part of its most recent advertising campaign, Budweiser has teamed up with Good-Loop and SolarAid to distribute solar lights to members of developing communities in Africa.
As per John Keane, Chief Executive Officer of SolarAid, over 578 million people on the continent are currently living without access to electricity.
The spot, in which a dalmatian enjoys the breeze as it rides on a cart through a field of barley at the company’s Clydesdales, will use Good-Loop’s ethical adtech to identify every view it receives, which will then be turned into solar light donations.
According to The Drum, the advertisement is slated to go live till the end of July, and is expected to rake up over 6,100 solar lights—benefitting 33,200 people and saving less fortunate families a total of £981,500 (US$1.2 million)—over the period.
Georgia Doe, Senior Brand Manager at Budweiser, told the publication that as the firm was already brewing its beer from solar power-generated electricity, it wanted to go a step further to “provide solar-powered lights to those in need.”
