Apple’s Former Design Chief Jony Ive Ends Ties As Its Consultant

Back in 2019, Jony Ive vacated his position as Chief Design Officer at Apple after more than two decades to create LoveForm, his personal design studio. Despite the separation, the famed industrial designer remained a consultant to the company, though that may have recently changed. 

According to The New York Times, it appears Ive’s agreement with Apple has expired, fully removing him from any involvement in the technology firm. Insiders have revealed certain executives were “frustrated” with how much the designer was being paid while he alleged poached Apple talent for his own business. 

This news is certainly a seminal shift for the company, considering Ive was the brain behind the rounded corners of the iPhone, and played a prominent role in the development of the Apple Watch. 

While both parties have declined to comment on the matter, it does seem the partnership is truly over. Nonetheless, Ive will likely keep busy with clients including Ferrari, Airbnb, and his non-profit initiative with Prince Charles.
