Kanye West has been unusually quiet these days, and it seems it’s because he’s been pouring himself into work. His YEEZY Gap store opened its doors in Times Square a week ago, and he’s also been registering a number of trademarks for some mysterious projects.
The latest in these developments, as discovered by intellectual property attorney Josh Gerben, is a string of trademark applications for a circular logo filed by West’s Mascotte Holdings for new “retail stores” and services.
Kanye West has a new logo.@kanyewest filed new trademark applications for a "two concentric circle" logo with the outer circle "represented by a fluted circular line..."
The emblem, which doesn’t have a set color scheme, consists of two rings—the inner one sporting a flat line and the outer circle featuring jagged edges. One might liken it to a bottle cap, or even the Stories ring surrounding Instagram profile pictures, but in flames.
Another application for the symbol describes that it could be printed across an extensive array of clothing, including shirts, T-shirts, beanies, jerseys, socks, and even “scrubs not for medical purposes.”
Interestingly, these seem to line up with a couple of trademark applications for the name “YZYSPLY” that West submitted last month, also for retail stores. Will YEEZY move to become a household name in the brick-and-mortar world? Time will tell.
