PANTONE & Motorola To Release Phones Inspired By Color Trends For Years
By Mikelle Leow, 13 Sep 2022
PANTONE and Motorola, the master of flip phones, are now flipping what you may feel about needing a phone case. The pair have announced a multi-year partnership to imbue color psychology and strategy into Motorola’s portfolio, and a first look paints phones with sleek PANTONE finishes.
Motorola views smartphones as handheld vessels for self-expression, and it has now tapped on the color authority’s expertise to “set the tone for moments big and small” through the powerful language of color. PANTONE will spend the coming years advising Motorola on the biggest color and design trends, as well as curate palettes—including the Color of the Year—to help the smartphone maker with its personal expression and guide its future products.
The first brush of the tie-in is Motorola’s Edge 30 Neo lineup, splashed in four cool-toned PANTONE swatches. ‘Very Peri’—the 2022 Color of the Year—is one of them, and it is joined by ‘Ice Palace’, ‘Aqua Foam’, and ‘Black Onyx’.
The Edge 30 Neo is branded with its relevant swatch name, a lovely touch for color enthusiasts.
PANTONE outlines the duo’s first hues below.
Through this long-term venture, Motorola will be primed as “a leader in color and design trends within the mobile industry,” a PANTONE spokesperson tells DesignTAXI.
The Motorola Edge 30 Neo will be available in Europe and Latin America.
