New York Apartment Could Soon Be The Most Expensive In The United States
By Alexa Heah, 29 Sep 2022
Have you got an extra quarter of a billion dollars lying around? If so, you may want to try for a new apartment that’s just hit the market.
Going for an astonishing US$250 million, it is poised to be the most expensive penthouse for sale in the United States, and will set a new record if it does sell at that price.
Of course, there are reasons behind the home’s jaw-dropping price tag. For one, it’s situated on the highest floor of Manhattan’s Central Park Tower, the world’s tallest residential tower, which reaches a staggering height of 1,550 feet—or nearly as tall as the Empire State Building.
The triplex penthouse, spanning the 129th to 131st floor of the building, comprises over 17,500 square feet of space, not including a 1,400-square-foot outdoor terrace boasting prime 360-degree views along Billionaires’ Row.
Within the home, the ample space provides enough room for 23 rooms, seven beds, and nine-and-a-half baths. There’s even a 1,500-square-foot grand salon and a nearly 2,000-square-foot private ballroom.
Naturally, the building’s amenities are equally impressive, with a 60-foot outdoor pool, 62-foot indoor saltwater pool, private spa, garden, fitness center, screening room, and for all the gourmands, a private restaurant managed by Michelin-star chefs, and a wine lounge.
According to Business Chief, the previous record for the most expensive property sold in the country was set when business mogul Ken Griffin bought a condominium at 220 Central Park South for a whopping US$238 million.
