BAPE Opens Camo-Heavy Café For Big Streetwear Appetites In Hong Kong
By Mikelle Leow, 02 Dec 2022
Bananas for street design and food? Japanese streetwear icon A Bathing Ape has opened its latest BAPE CAFE!?® concept in Hong Kong’s Harbour City mall, joining stores in Malaysia and Shanghai.
Camouflage or not, the café will be hard to miss. The dining area and bar, located within a BAPE retail store, is dressed to impress with the brand’s camo patterns of red, blue, and green on its seats and artwork.
Just in case it gets too cloying, the décor dials back on the color with marble tables, frosted stainless steel walls, and special BAPE x Modernica Fiber Shell Chairs, according to Hypefoods.
But the idea isn’t just to feast your eyes. The BAPE CAFE!?® features a menu of Western and Japanese delights, topping them off with edible ‘Ape Head’ motifs in the forms of cookies, croutons, and latte art.
Items on the menu include the BAPE Burger and pepperoni pizza, as well as desserts like ice cream waffles and a slice of hazelnut chocolate cake. The miso white cod fish with mashed potato and the creamy lobster linguine with scallops are Hong Kong exclusives.
