Disneyland Is Hosting Its First After-Dark ‘Pride Nite’, Therefore Saying Gay

The Happiest Place on Earth is about to be happy and gay, in both senses of the word. For Pride Month this year, Disneyland will be holding its first official Pride Nite in honor of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies.
Contrary to what its name tells you, Pride Nite will take place over three nights from June 13 to 15 at Disneyland Park in California. Visitors are encouraged to flaunt their “unique and fabulous” selves by dressing up in their “true colors.”
It will be an after-dark event, officially commencing at 9 p.m. and ending at one in the morning.
Disney has been hard at work to shake off accusations of discrimination ever since word got out that its executives had shut down more inclusive storylines for films. The entertainment giant has since openly condemned Florida’s so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill and pledged to do more for the community.
Besides having after-hours access to attractions—and likely shorter wait times—Pride Nite guests will be able to attend the ‘Pride Cavalcade’, a parade at Main Street featuring Mickey, Minnie, and friends who are dressed for the occasion. Late-night photo ops invite fans to pose against Pride-themed backdrops and props with mascots.
There will also be a ‘Rivers of America Dance Party’ with a DJ spinning tunes along the water’s edge. Here, visitors can mingle with Mickey and his pals on the dance floor.
Famished patrons can be Disney’s guests at the dinner table, chowing down on bites specially created for the party, like a Berry Cheesecake Funnel, Chocolate Almond Churro, and Spiced Beef Potato Loaded Bites, and downing them with a Grapefruit Lemonade Soda.
By the looks of it, Tomorrowland is already here. Pride Nite is a separately ticketed event, with entry priced at US$139.
