Wear A ‘Masterpiece’ From The Louvre On Your Wrist With These One-Off Watches

Instead of just enjoying the artwork in a museum, how about wearing some of history’s most famed paintings wherever you go? That’s what Vacheron Constantin hopes to offer with its latest collaboration with the Louvre Museum.
The partnership, entitled Masterpiece On Your Wrist, allows customers to commission their very own special-edition Les Cabinotiers watch inspired by their favorite artwork hanging in the acclaimed Parisian museum.
This launch was inspired by a one-off creation the duo worked on together in December 2020, when a buyer chose to replicate Pierre Paul Rubens’ Battle of Anghiari on the dial of a luxury timepiece.
As part of the experience, the purchaser was given a private tour of the Louvre and its Cabinet des Dessins—a place only accessible via reservation—in order to pick the artwork that was eventually reproduced.
Now, those who commission their own version of the timepiece will get to experience the same, with options to choose from works that aren’t usually on display. Each buyer will also get a private tour of the museum.
According to the watchmaker, this project continues to merge the legacies of two historic institutions, both of whom share “the same respect for history, culture, and heritage.”
“Born in the Age of Enlightenment, our two institutions share the mission of passing on a passion for art, heritage, and the excellence of ancestral craftsmanship. While firmly rooted in history, they are resolutely open to the contemporary world,” said Laurence des Cars, President of the Louvre.
