The horizon of Arizona’s entertainment scene is about to expand in a big way come 2024, with the imminent opening of the Mattel Adventure Park. This distinctive attraction is poised to be the state’s inaugural indoor and outdoor amusement park.
Spanning a sprawling expanse of nine acres, the Mattel Adventure Park is gearing up to transport patrons into a world of imagination, replete with themed attractions inspired by Mattel brands such as Hot Wheels and Barbie.
Located in Glendale, the conception of the park has been made possible through a collaborative partnership between Mattel, Epic Resort Destinations, and other partners.
The park is currently in the mids of construction (which you can watch in real-time through a live cam here), and two roller coasters are almost up and ready, the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker and the Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer. The former showcases the iconic hot rod’s skull design as it towers to an impressive height of 84 feet. Meanwhile, the latter boasts a double loop and two corkscrews.
And, if you can’t get enough of the Barbie craze, according to Thrillist, there will be an actual Barbie Beach House and the Barbie Dream Closet Experience, which includes hologram technology that will bring the doll herself to life and a rooftop bar and restaurant.
Alongside those will be a Master of the Universe laser tag arena, a Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor rides and indoor play area, and a mini golf course inspired by Pictionary and Magic 8 Ball.
The success of the Barbie movie has ignited a newfound appeal for seeing popular toys get turned into just about every form of media.
