Despite first being teased a couple of years back, Tesla’s Cybertruck has stayed, well, frozen behind the scenes. Fans craving to have a taste can finally do so, but not in the way one might think.
An outrageous collaboration between the automaker and McDonald’s in China bestows a Cybertruck-inspired McFlurry spoon onto drivers, surprisingly topping the ridiculous pickup truck-themed cat bed introduced by Tesla in the country.
The ‘Cyber Spoon’ mirrors the angular structure of the elusive pickup truck, and according to the marketing materials, the utensil is “all metal.”
As some might say, owning a Tesla is like having a silver spoon in your mouth.
McDonald's has shared some photos of the Cyber Spoon on Xiaohongshu, a Chinese Social media site with over 200 million monthly users. McDonald's also posted about it on their WeChat account. Tesla posted about it on their Weibo account.

The spoon arrives in a “cyber whirlwind” canister that sports a reflective metallic finish and also pays homage to the edges on the truck.

Another amusing detail is the “Don’t Panic” message written on the handle, a nod to the text seen on the dashboard of CEO Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster when it launched into orbit in 2018.

Musk did not get the memo about the drop, and he quickly dismissed the Cybertruck McFlurry spoons as “fake news” when images of them made their rounds on X (formerly Twitter). Given how out-of-pocket these utensils are, his reaction is more than valid.

Fake news afaik
The spoons are indeed real, as we found the official images on Tesla and McDonald’s Chinese social pages. McDonald’s plans to unleash only 50,000 Cyber Spoons to the public for about US$4.10 a piece via its local shopping app.
Let’s hope that when the Cybertruck finally hits the road at the end of this month, it will run much more smoothly than the Golden Arches’ notorious ice cream machines.
