Feeling Dirty From Climate Guilt? ‘Greenwash Soap’ Is Here To Cleanse Your Soul
By Alexa Heah, 29 Sep 2023
Inspired by “deceitful corporations” that promise much but deliver little, the Better Climate Store recently released Greenwash Soap—a soap bar that tasks itself to be the only soap in the market that “actually helps the planet.”
Featuring a deeply moisturizing formula made from hydrating oils, eucalyptus, and mint essence, Greenwash parodies the claims made by most “green” brands, pledging it won’t just leave one’s body refreshed but cleanses the soul as well.
Created in partnership with creative agency Spacecraft Earth, the 30-second commercial introducing the soap bar is a parody of typical body care advertisements, featuring the usual soft, feminine narration and gentle music, offering customers out-of-reach results.
“When my skin seeks radiance, but my soul needs cleansing, there’s Greenwash. The only soap that washes away the climate guilt,” the spot starts off.
“With a gently moisturizing formula that gives me a false sense of security like no other corporation can. Leaving me refreshed, yet entirely complacent,” it added.
Unlike other products that are marketed as better for the Earth but do zilch to help it, purchases of Greenwash will actually benefit the planet. Proceeds from the Better Climate Store go towards the Better Climate Fund, an endowment financing climate mitigation projects.
Head here to shop the tongue-in-cheek soap bar, retailing for US$39.
