Hot on the wheels of BMW and Volkswagen is Nissan, possibly the next automobile company to adopt a 2D, minimalist logo design.
As reported by Philippines-based vehicle news site AutoDeal, Nissan registered trademark applications for a flat, thin logo in Argentina, Chile, Great Britain, Peru and Uruguay.
The new look does without the metallic sheen, and sports more whitespace and a slimmer sans-serif typeface. Nissan’s ring has also been broken off into two semicircles.
Nissan personally hasn’t confirmed the redesign, but if the overhaul pans out, this will be its first major logo change since 2001.
MotorTrend also reported that the company has filed a trademark depicting a new badge for the Z-car sports car line.
