An incredible Black Lives Matter mural painted in Washington DC is so prominent, it can be seen way above Earth.
Planet Labs has released satellite images on Twitter of the bright yellow public art which spans two blocks on 16th Street NW. The “Black Lives Matter” message is painted between buildings on the street that leads to the White House.
According to NBC Washington, the mural was painted by a crew hired by the city’s Department of Public Works.
Washington mayor Muriel Bowser commissioned the work to be created on the street following protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. Bowser has also renamed a portion of 16th Street NW as Black Lives Matter plaza, complete with a flashy new street sign.
