A stolen Banksy artwork has been discovered in a farmhouse in Italy.
The mural, which depicts a girl mourning on an emergency door of a Bataclan concert hall in Paris, was created in tribute to victims of the Paris terror attacks in 2015. Unfortunately, the door was cut out and stolen in January 2019.
The French police said “hooded individuals armed with angle grinders” stole the work and drove away in a truck.
A joint raid between French and Italian officials led to the discovery of the artwork in a farmhouse in Teramo, located at the eastern region of Abruzzo.
Head of the L’Aquila district prosecutor’s office Michele Renzo told Italian newspaper La Repubblica that the artwork was recovered thanks to the collaboration of officials from both countries. Details of the suspects will be released to the public soon.
