Forget the Friends theory about finding your lobster; the marine crustaceans don’t even mate for life. Otters hold hands as they sleep so they don’t drift away from one another, which is a much sweeter and truer thing to believe in.
This is the basis behind Starbucks Taiwan’s 2020 collection for Qixi, the Chinese version of Valentine’s Day, on 25 August. The endearing range features two mugs depicting otter couples who obviously don’t have to follow social-distancing guidelines.

The first design shows a brown otter, whose tail is adorably part of the mug’s handle, embracing its otter half.
The former is beaming, but how does the other one feel about this gesture?

You’ll be able to catch the partner’s facial expression on the inside of the drinkware, and it appears that the affection is mutual.
The white mug is also adorned with hand-drawn stars, hearts, and shrubbery—the cuteness factor is otter this world. Plus, just imagine, each time the part above your lips touches your warm and comforting drink, it’s almost like you’re getting a cozy hug by the otters.

The second mug design is a little more straightforward. It showcases two loving otters holding hands so they stay together, as they float around a milky pink river on their backs. The pair form a heart shape in the water.

Their love travels across the water, as illustrated through hearts and a Starbucks cup at the back of the mug.
Sadly, the collection has been wholly snapped up, though fans might still be able to grab some of it on eBay.
