Microsoft is testing a time-saving tool that lets you turn your Word-created handouts into presentation slides. Where was this 10 years ago when you needed it?
Thanks to advancements in artificial intelligence, some users—namely those in Microsoft’s Office Insider program—now have access to a convenient ‘Transform’ command that converts text-filled Word documents into professional PowerPoint presentations, complete with imagery, themes, videos, and fonts.
Microsoft’s AI examines your text document and independently populates the PowerPoint document with assets it predicts will match your content best. This eliminates the time taken to scroll through clipart to find suitable imagery for your presentation.
Office Insider users can locate this tool through the web version of Word, under File > Transform > Transform to PowerPoint. Everyone else need not wait long, though, as Microsoft says it will begin introducing the feature to all web users “shortly.”

Currently, the Transform feature still has some shortcomings; it can only work with English-language Word documents, and isn’t compatible with the Internet Explorer or Safari web browsers. Also, it can only convert text content for now, but you can manually add media content to the PowerPoint version.
