It’s always a joy when beloved paintings are celebrated on apparel and sneakers, but art lovers might tell you what matters is on the inside, too. That’s pretty much what Japanese lingerie brand Peach John has done for an exquisite array of undergarments you can only hang up, quite unfortunately, in your closet.
The brand pays homage to the artworks of Katsushika Hokusai, Vincent van Gogh, Alphonse Mucha, and William Morris by intricately recreating details from their paintings onto bras and knickers in its ‘Master’s Bra’ series.
New to the lineup is a ‘Hokusai Blue’, unmistakably inspired by the Great Wave off Kanagawa. Illustrating its magnanimity, the great wave soars above where the bra cups start. Smaller waves line the elastic band of the underpants. Throughout, the set embodies the sea, with sheer fabrics and bubbles.
The ‘Van Gogh Yellow’ set, which draws upon the famous Sunflowers still-life paintings, imagines Van Gogh’s iconic brushstrokes with embroidery, with leaves daintily peeking out of the cups.
More flora can be seen on the ‘Mucha Ecru’ and ‘Morris Navy’ styles, which pay tribute to the Art Nouveau-style Rose and Pimpernel wallpaper respectively.
A lovely touch across all variants is the addition of wavy double straps, a nod to the picture frames that carry the artworks.
