Meta, Being Meta, Joins Brands On Their Mockery Of Its Name & Logo

The company formerly known as Facebook is now Meta, describing that it plans to go “beyond the constraint of screens, the limits of distance and even physics.” And it’s already begun taking on this role of an all-encompassing, digital supreme being by reacting to memes about its massive corporate rebrand.
Brands like Kraft, Wendy’s, and 7-Eleven were quick to poke fun at the on-the-nose name and infinity symbol logo. Normally, the subject of the jokes would decline to engage in these lighthearted feuds, but this is Meta, mind you.
As Meta’s social media manager tells BuzzFeed, which has remixed the Meta wordmark with a hilariously viral photo of BJ Novak/Ryan Howard (read: CEO of social networking site WUPHF from The Office): “There’s no single face of the metaverse, it’s built by all of us.” This can be said for all other things, including the memes.
See how Meta’s responding to internet jokes below. Watch out; it’s just warming up.
Nice to meat you, @Wendys

Meta means “beyond” -- the constraints of screens, the limits of distance and even physics. But, yeah, it’s also great for GIFs like this. pic.twitter.com/zDW9OxOumt
