‘Samsung Wallet’ Finally Launches To Hold Your Cards, Keys & Passes In One App

Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass are coming together to find a new home with the newly announced ‘Samsung Wallet’, at last granting its users a unified access to their ID & payment cards, digital keys, boarding passes, and more—all in a single app.
At the ‘Unpacked’ event earlier this year, the conglomerate teased the possibility of this new Wallet and now it’s finally launched for users in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the US, and the UK.
Although it’s the world’s number 1 smartphone maker by market share, Samsung is notably slow to the digital wallet race, in comparison to its competitors Apple and Google.
Besides digital cards and keys, the Wallet also allows you to store important information such as your Covid-19 vaccination documents so you’ll never have to dig through your bag and scour your emails for it before boarding a flight again.
Speaking of flights, starting with select Korean Airlines flights, your boarding pass can also be safely stored on the Wallet. However, passengers of other airlines may have to be patient until further announcements.
Samsung Blockchain Wallet will also be joining the mix in the new app, allowing users a quick overview of their crypto portfolios.
If you have a habit of misplacing your car keys, the Wallet has got your back. For select BMW, Genesis, and Hyundai models you can now unlock and start your car’s engine right from within the app.
The Wallet uses Samsung Knox to safeguard users' identities and passwords, using biometric data such as facial recognition and fingerprint scanning to ensure that data is not easily lost or stolen.
To access the release, Samsung advises Galaxy users in the above-mentioned six markets to “open Samsung Pay or Samsung Pass app from their eligible Galaxy devices, and follow prompt to update and migrate to Samsung Wallet.”
