Apple’s Upcoming Watch Series 8 Could Warn You If You’re Running A Fever

In May, reputed tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple was working on an algorithm for the upcoming Watch Series 8 which would allow the device to take accurate body temperature readings without the use of additional hardware.
Kuo reported then that the tech giant had scrapped plans to include the feature for the Watch Series 7 as it failed to satisfy quality guidelines. However, he was confident it would meet the company’s “high requirements” for the forthcoming launch.
Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has lent his backing to the rumor, confirming that the next Apple Watch will include a body temperature sensor that could alert you if you’re coming down with a fever.
While the device may not provide an exact temperate reading, it could potentially send notification alerts to use a thermometer or visit a doctor when it detects that its wearer is burning up.
Gurman said he believed the feature would be available in the standard Apple Watch Series 8, along with a new “rugged edition” for extreme sports athletes. He further deduced that the temperature sensor would not be included in the lower-end SE iteration.
Elsewhere, the device will reportedly only sport “minor” changes, and could feature the same processing capabilities as the Series 6 and Series 7, though more expensive models could possibly come with an updated display.
