Heineken Releases ‘Green Pub Guide’ Of Hangouts For Nights Out That Feel Better
By Alexa Heah, 10 Aug 2022
When considering how to best minimize our carbon footprint, we often turn to emerging carbon-capture technologies, recycling efforts, or even great ocean cleanups. But how about making a stride towards sustainability by switching your go-to pub?
That’s what Heineken SmartDispense intends to do with the introduction of its Green Pub Guide, which features pubs around Britain that have made significant efforts in reducing carbon emissions and taking steps towards becoming more environmentally-friendly.
In total, the guide comprises 55 establishments—including pubs, bars, and restaurants—that have shown substantial efforts in making operations more sustainable, and hopes to encourage other pubs in the nation to follow in their footsteps and incorporate more eco-friendly measures.
The next time you’re thinking of heading out for a drink, why not browse the guide for a venue you can feel good patronizing? Heineken has outlined the measures each business has taken to reduce its carbon footprint, allowing you to pick those most aligned with your own values.
According to The Drum, the judges were most impressed with certain initiatives displayed by the establishments, such as local and low food-mile menus, sustainable renovations, and the reduction of water and CO2 waste using the brand’s SmartDispense technology.
“The Green Pub Guide, powered by SmartDispense, is the very first of its kind and aims to showcase the top environmentally friendly pubs, eco bars, and green restaurants across the country, and the substantial steps they’re taking to reduce their environmental impact,” says Heineken.
“The guide aims to inspire people to visit their nearest green pub—whether they’re a local or away on a break—and encourage fellow pubs nationwide to take inspiration, and look at ways to improve and strengthen their green credentials.”
