Apple Could Outsize The Next ‘Pro Max’ Model With iPhone 15 ‘Ultra’ Instead

With Apple doing away with the Mini for this year’s iPhone 14 launch, we’ve grown accustomed to the three-model lineup: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a key insider into Apple’s plans, the technology giant could be changing next year’s ‘Pro Max’ model to the iPhone 15 ‘Ultra’ instead.
Rumored to be the brand’s largest and most expensive smartphone yet, the branding shift will go along with what could be the most significant redesigns to the iPhone since the iPhone 12 two years ago.
Previously, the insider had been one of the first to report the company was working on a “rugged” Watch, which was eventually realized in the form of Apple Watch Ultra.
This time, Gurman reported that the lighting port on the upcoming iPhone could vanish for good and will be replaced by a USB-C port, among other “bigger changes” that have yet to be revealed.
As MacRumors pointed out, this rebranding effort will line up with what Apple has done with its over devices, including the latest Apple Watch Ultra and the M1 Ultra—its most powerful chip yet.
Last week, display analyst Ross Young had also predicted that all models of the iPhone 15 lineup might come with the brand-new Dynamic Island feature.
All things considered, be it Max or Ultra, one thing is for sure: you’re gonna need bigger pockets.
