McDonald’s Creates Happy Meal For Adults To Satisfy Their Appetite For Nostalgia

Just as you thought the days of ordering Happy Meals were behind you, McDonald’s thinks otherwise. The Golden Arches is strumming nostalgic heartstrings by amping its kids’ sets for adults that grew up with the restaurant.
McDonald’s keyed into streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Markets’ aesthetic to create retro-inspired toys reviving the Hamburglar, Grimace, and Birdie, along with a new addition to the McDonaldland clique, Cactus Buddy.

Evidently for street art enthusiasts who have developed a soft spot for characters like KAWS’ Companion, the collectibles each have four eyes while retaining their classic appearance. The art for the new Happy Meal boxes is dotted with eccentric, child-like drawings.
Typically, a cheeseburger or four nuggets are served as the kid’s meals at the fast-food joint. However, as that’s not nearly enough nourishment for any grownup, the revised menu comes with a Big Mac or 10-piece nugget set to go with the upgraded free toys.
Beyond toys, Cactus Plant Flea Market and McDonald’s are also creating a capsule collection of t-shirts, hoodies, and other collectibles that will be available on a dedicated website.
McDonald’s has been tapping into pop culture for its marketing efforts as this partnership comes on the heels of a virtual ‘Summer Camp’, where it saw the likes of Kid Cudi headlining an online music festival.
So, if you’re in the market to relive the good old days of ripping into your Happy Meal box for the toy, that nostalgia train could be hitting you hard soon enough. The mascots will be ready with each purchase at selected McDonald’s locations and over the app from October 3.
