Apple’s ties with FineWoven seem to have frayed. The Cupertino tech giant has reportedly ended production of the fairly new line of iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, rolled out just last fall. The products were positioned as sustainable alternatives to leather accessories. Alas, while praised for its aesthetics, the material was met with complaints regarding durability issues like easy staining and susceptibility to scuffs.
The intel comes from renowned Apple leaker Kosutami, who adds that the company will “move to another material” that’s not leather to succeed the short-lived FineWoven.

Since its durability were bad.
All the production line was stopped and removed.
Apple would move to another material—Again, not the leather.
So see ya'll in leather hell.

Made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester, the material boasts a micro-twill design with a soft and luxurious suede-like feel. Its introduction even earned Apple recognition as PETA’s ‘Company of the Year’ in 2023 for its commitment to reducing animal products.
While Apple has not officially confirmed the news, the reports come amid user dissatisfaction with FineWoven’s practicality. Many pointed out the material’s tendency to attract dirt and questioned its longevity, especially considering its price point—up to US$99—is on par with the brand’s premium leather options. Last month, Amazon added a “frequently returned” warning label to the series, pointing to an overall disappointment with the accessories.
Apple’s recent spring product refresh also saw a lack of new FineWoven color options, hinting at a potential shift away from the material.
Looking ahead, given its environmental focus, Apple should be exploring alternative eco-conscious materials for its future accessory lines.
