Burger King doesn’t have the same reach around the world as McDonald’s has. Fans in Japan are equally glum about its relative inaccessibility, and have urged the chain to bring a branch to their neighborhoods.
Burger King Japan’s answer is a lot different from those of its international counterparts. While many have chosen to ridicule the Golden Arches and its clown, the Japanese arm has tied up a partnership with real estate agency Able to help customers locate properties near Burger King outlets through a new real estate rental platform called ‘BK Town’.
With the new portal, residents of Tokyo, Osaka, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama will be able to “live in an area where flame-grilled 100-percent beef patties can be enjoyed all the time,” said the brand in a statement, translated by SoraNews24.
The restaurant said it felt compelled to connect customers with vacant rooms near Burger King after numerous requests for nearby branches.
Aside from launching the service, which will only run till 18 January 2021, Burger King Japan is giving 10 renters 100 Whoppers each as part of a lottery, perhaps to compensate for their BK deprivation.
If moving near a Burger King seems far-fetched, fast-food lovers in the Land of the Rising Sun can stay put. The company is opening 13 new locations in the country in November and December, and plans to open more in 2021.
