Apple Brings Back Battery Percentage To The Status Bar In Latest iOS 16 Beta
By Alexa Heah, 09 Aug 2022
Remember the good ol’ days when you could peek at your iPhone’s battery percentage with just a quick glance at the status bar?
Well, although the technology giant did away with the feature with the release of the iPhone X in 2017, it appears that the little nugget of convenience could be making a comeback.
As reported by 9to5Mac, developers tinkering around with the iOS 16 beta 5 discovered that users can add the battery percentage back to the status bar by toggling the settings.
Just simply select the new ‘Battery Percentage’ option under the ‘Battery’ tab and voilà—it’s back.
The site noted that with the returning feature, an iPhone will now display the percentage number inside of the usual battery icon.
Everything else remains the same, with the battery icon turning yellow in low power mode, and a small charging icon appearing when the smartphone is plugged in to charge.
However, for the current iteration of the beta, this option isn’t available to those using the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, and iPhone 13 Mini, though it’s unclear if the feature will eventually work for these models when the full iOS 16 is released.
Battery percentage aside, other exciting features are set to come to the iPhone once its new software launches, including bypassing CAPTCHA checks, deleting more default applications, and an all-new, tailored lock screen interface.
